Scrapbooking Back-to-school Memories

With August nearly here, summer is flying by! Memory Scrapbooks hopes you’re prepared to go back to school in September. Back-to-school-time is a great time of year for scrapbooking! You’re bound to take tons of photos throughout the school year, and a scrapbook is a great place to display those memories. Here are some fantastic back to school scrapbook ideas and tips.

scrapbooking for back to school

  • Leave room on your pages for pictures of all shapes and sizes.
  • Give pages a fall-like feel by adding some stickers of leaves.
  • Make titles, words, letters, graphics or photos stand out by using a foam adhesive. A good example of a foam adhesive is our scrapbook adhesive foam dots. You can stack a few of the foam dots together to really make your graphics stand out on the page.
  • Use scraps of notebook paper when you write captions or when you’re journaling. This will give your scrapbook a great school-like touch.
  • If you’re short on time during school months, we suggest laying out your back to school scrapbooks school scrapbooks pages so all you have to do is insert pictures of all your fun school memories!
  • Be sure to include a page for your school photo!
  • Split the scrapbook into sections. This will make it easier to browse and find different memories. You can section your scrapbook by months, school year, school events, etc.
  • If the scrapbook is for a younger son or daughter, include pieces of their school work or some drawings they did.
  • To make a photo pop off the page – glue the photo to colored paper, then cut along the person’s silhouette before mounting it onto the page. Make sure you can see some of the colored paper around the person’s silhouette! It’s a fun shadow technique.
  • For a unique embellishment, mount a #2 pencil to a scrapbook page.

Cherish Recipes with a Scrapbook

It happens to all of us. We find this amazing recipe for peach cobbler or rice pudding and after we’re done making the delicious dessert, we shove the recipe in a book or a recipe box. Not only is the recipe written on a plain white index card, but the handwriting it’s written in looks like a 2-year-old wrote it. You should take pride in your great-great grandmother’s cheesecake recipe. Display it in a recipe scrapbook.

How to Bake Make Your Scrapbook

With these steps you’ll be able to display your recipes in a unique craft that you can cherish and pass down to your children.

  1. First choose a scrapbook for your recipes. If you have a lot of recipes to add to your scrapbook, you may want to choose a Snapload scrapbook. Snapload scrapbooks have expandable bindings, allowing for unlimited refills.
  2. If you want, design and decorate the cover of your recipe scrapbook. You may want to write “Family Recipes” or simple “Recipes” on the cover. Think of creative ways to do this. If you want to leave it plain, that’s fine too.
  3. Next, make recipe divider category pages. You’ll need five basic dividers – appetizers, soups and salads, main dishes, sides and desserts.
  4. After you’re finished with the dividers, sort through all of the recipes you want to include in the scrapbook. Sort them into piles according to the dividers you made.
  5. Lastly, design and decorate the recipe pages. When you’re finished, insert everything into the scrapbook.
  6. Make recipes, and enjoy!

Just a few things to keep in mind:

  • Have a plan. Layout pages to prevent mistakes.
  • Be as creative as you want
  • Don’t rush, take your time.
  • Most important, enjoy yourself and have fun!

Happy scrapbooking from all of us here at!

Scrapbooking During the Shower

baby scrapbook photo

Scrapbooking has quickly become a favorite pastime for many people. It’s a great, creative way to preserve and share some of your most treasured memories. Some scrapbook lovers have shared and passed on their love through hosting scrapbooking parties. One variation of a scrapbooking party is a scrapbooking baby shower.

Baby Scrapbook showers make a fun and unique party theme, and provide a personal gift for the mother-to-be and baby.

Instead of sending guests regular store bought invitations, make your own from scrapbook supplies. Use baby themed colors and supplies. Along with the information normally included on an invitation, explain that the theme of the party is scrapbooking, and that everyone should bring enough scrapbook supplies to make a two page layout to give to the expecting mother.

Unless you’re going to provide all of the supplies, you should also include a list of supplies to bring to the shower. Paper, cutouts, baby themed stickers are just a few examples of items you can list.

During the shower instead of playing the normal baby shower games, each party guest will design a two page layout for the mother-to-be’s scrapbook. This way after the baby is born she only has to paste the photos of her newborn bundle of joy into the already designed pages.

Scrapbooking baby showers are not only unique and fun, but they also give the new mother and baby a wonderful shower gift that will last a lifetime. To make your page more personal for mom and baby, write a personal message of congratulations or good luck on one or both of the pages you design.

It’s that time of year again – spring cleaning time! If you’re bogged down with tons of scrapbooking supplies, photos, and crafting goodies, it’s time to get things under control and spruced up. So, to help you along, has come up with a handy checklist of things that you can do to spring clean your photo collection, as well as your scrapbooking area. Ready? Let’s get started:

  • Go through all of your photos that aren’t in albums and look for any duplicates. Can they be tossed?
  • Check through envelopes of photos to see if there are any that were developed but didn’t come out right. Toss ‘em!
  • Next, review your scrapbooks and photo albums and see where you can add in some of those loose photos.
  • For the rest of the photos you can’t use, pack them away neatly in an album or a photo storage box.
  • Speaking of storage boxes, keep your scrapbooks and albums  stored on a shelf or in a box where they can be protected.
  • Then, head to your scrapbooking area. Gather up scraps and organize them neatly in envelopes, drawers, or bins.
  • Take your tools and give them a good dusting. Put them away neatly.
  • Clean off your work surface and give it all a good once over with a clean rag.

Now those are just a few things you can do to get started. How do you spring clean your scrapbooking supplies?
