Scrapbook Idea: Pages with Holiday Spirit

cozy christmas 2

Christmastime is a time that’s perfect for scrapbooking and if you’re thinking of making a holiday scrapbook or Christmas scrapbook for your family to enjoy for many years to come, we have a few ideas that can help you make your pages top. Use these tips to really capture the holiday spirit in your Christmas scrapbook:

  • Instead of colored paper or backgrounds, try using wrapping paper from the presents to decorate your pages. It’s just so much more meaningful!
  • Speaking of wrapping paper, try making a “patchwork quilt” of paper by cutting out pieces and putting them together in a fun design for the cover. Once laminated, you’ll have a work of art that’s sure to celebrate the season.
  • Take plenty of pictures of the holiday chaos. Everything from bed head and pajamas down to Christmas smiles needs to be captured.
  • If you made homemade ornaments with your children this year, try including one (or at least a photo of one) on your scrapbook pages. It’ll keep the tradition alive!

What other ideas do you have for making the most of your holiday scrapbook?

It’s National Ice Cream Month

July is smack in the middle of the summer, and nothing says summer better than a nice scoop of ice cream!  Why not make an ice cream themed scrapbook to commemorate one of the best features of the season?  Take some ice cream pictures and get rolling!

Have a Sundae Sunday

Create a sundae bar at your house one Sunday afternoon.  Here are a few tips for getting your sundae stuff together:

  • Get a few different flavors of ice cream and line the tubs up on the table.  Have a scoop ready for each.
  • Set out individual bowls for everyone that will be there.  Make sure you have spoons, too!
  • Get a few different toppings for your ice cream.  Nuts, candy, sprinkles, different syrups, and whipped cream.  Have some cherries to put on top.
  • Let everyone make their own sundae.

Ice Cream Scrapbooking
When you’re ready to scrapbook your ice cream extravaganza, get a nice light-colored scrapbook.  You can even have your kids make paper ice cream cones to use as embellishments.  Have fun with it!

Make sure you take pictures of the sundae bar before everyone starts eating.  Take pictures of what everyone’s sundae looks like, and get a few shots of them eating.  (You might want to have a few napkins on hand, too!)

Keep Your Kids Around when the Summer is Over

Scrapbook summer memory scrapbooks

The summer is about halfway over (hard to believe, we know!).  You still have a lot of living left to do out there.  But you need to have back-to-school time in the back of your head.  In the three months that your kids are home over the summer, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take pictures of them.  They’ll be running around, swimming, playing ball, and doing all sorts of things.  It’s the perfect opportunity for you to create a summertime scrapbook.  That way, when they go back to school, you’ll have something to look at.

Because, let’s face it, our kids might wear us out over the summer.  They’re like beings with virtually endless energy.  They’ll run around from sunup to sundown.  We can’t always keep up.  So there’s going to be a bit of relief when they walk onto the school bus for the first time in the fall.  You’ll finally have a day to yourself.  But if you find yourself lonely for the energy of summer, you can pull out your summertime scrapbook.  Our kids might wear us out, but we love them anyway!

So grab a scrapbook from MemoryScrapbooks.com and start putting your kids’ summer down on the page!

Scrapbook for National Picnic Month

July is National Picnic Month, and it’s a perfect opportunity to scrapbook!  Picnics are great fun when you can get the whole family together.  But in order to get the best pictures for your scrapbook, you need to have an awesome picnic!  MemoryScrapbooks.com has some picnic tips for you to get started.  Make sure you bring your camera!

Memory Scrapbooks national picnic month

  • A city or state park naturally lends itself to a great picnic.  There are picnic tables, bathrooms, and plenty of room to run around.  But there are other great picnic options, too!  Try the beach, a zoo, botanical gardens, the grounds of a museum, a public pool, or even your own back yard. Just make sure you have permission to picnic at the location you choose.
  • You also need some activities to do at a picnic.  Think about flying kites, playing volleyball, badminton, croquet, or soccer.  You could even do some bird watching!
  • What’s a picnic without food?  Nothing!  Your picnic menu is important.  You could go with simple sandwiches, or you could get a bit more elaborate with grilled burgers and dogs. Remember dessert, too.  Cookies are perfect for a picnic.

Get out there and enjoy National Picnic Month.  Have fun, take some pictures, and make a great scrapbook!

Scrapbooking For Graduates

graduationIt’s graduation season.  Students of all ages are going to be graduating from pre-school, high school, college— you name it!  Graduation is always a memorable occasion;  and it’s a time for looking back on the graduate’s education and life up to this point.  There’s no better way to do that than with a scrapbook!

Some things to hang on to

  • The program from graduation is a great thing to put in the scrapbook.  It has everyone’s name in it, and it’s something that you’ll want to look back on.
  • If you don’t mind things getting a little bumpy, you can go ahead and put one of the graduation tassels in there.  Oftentimes, you can order extra tassels so that you can keep on on the hat and use one for some other keepsake— like a scrapbook!
  • It might be possible to get copies of the speeches given at the ceremony.  At the very least, write down some memorable quotes so that you can look back on the advice given by the keynote speakers.
  • If you got tickets for graduation, hang on to those, too!

Gather pictures from throughout the graduate’s life to create a nice retrospective scrapbook that culminates with his or her graduation!  However you decide to put it together, MemoryScrapbooks.com has some inspirational albums to get you started.

Easter Scrapbooking

bunny

Like with most holidays, these days become a great time to capture some holiday snapshots and put together a scrapbook to showcase your favorite memories. With the holiday of Easter, look forward to capturing pictures of the young ones with their Easter dresses and bonnets, fun times at the egg hunt, poses with the Easter bunny and more. Plus, this holiday allows you to scrapbook with pretty pastels and bunny, chicks and spring flower embellishments.

Not a child’s first Easter? Collect pictures from past Easters and create a collage of pictures throughout the years.

Remember the “firsts” of this holiday. Those can be the first picture with the Easter bunny, the first egg hunt or his or her first Easter basket.

For many, Easter is about the religious significance rather than the materialistic things. Focus on your faith on your scrapbook pages. There may be things that are part of your life that are symbolic and journaling about these experiences in an Easter scrapbooking is another technique to consider.

Creating a single scrapbook for Easter or including a few Easter pages to your Holiday scrapbook is a great way to cherish your pictures and to celebrate each of the holidays. Easter will be here before you know it, so make sure you have your camera ready and brainstorm some Easter related page layouts.
